It smells of gingerbread here

Year: 2014

North of the main port city of Antwerp in its sprawling docks and industrial heartland there is a small lake next to the ruin of an old castle. There is little evidence of the castle but for its overgrown ramparts. Kids build makeshift treehouses out of scrap timber that hang out over the water's edge. You can swim in the lake even though there are signs everywhere saying not to.

There is a footpath that can be followed around the lake's edge. At the North edge of the lake the path narrows to a single track.

It is here that it smells of gingerbread.
